Balerna
Balerna ( German outdated: Balern ) is a municipality in the district of Mendrisio Balerna in the district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
Geography
The municipality consists of the settlements Balerna " Caslaccio ", " Mercole ", " S. Antonio "," Bisio, "" Pontegana "and" Passeggiata ". The neighboring municipalities are Chiasso, Morbio Inferiore, Castel San Pietro, Coldrerio and Novazzano. It forms a suburb of Chiasso. The goods station of Chiasso is partly due to the municipality.
History
1115 Balerna was mentioned as Barerna.
The inhabitants of Balerna are 6% in agriculture, 20% in industry and 78% in the tertiary sector (as of 1990).
