Balice, Lesser Poland Voivodeship

Balice [ bal ʲ iʦɛ ] is a village of 1,200 inhabitants in Poland, which belongs to the municipality Zabierzów in powiat Krakowski, Lesser Poland Voivodeship.

It lies on the northern flank of the Brama Krakowska. The distance to the center of Krakow is about 15 km.

Less known is the village, but the John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice - civilian and military airport of Krakow - which also includes the barracks of the parachutist.

The town has a total area of 8.15 km ² of which 2.13 km ² of forests and 2.46 km ² airport surface.

Furthermore, the toll station on the A4 is known.

N.p.m. from about 300 m high mountain Góra Wał can enjoy a view of the approximately 100 m below the City of Krakow. On a clear day, usually in the spring, the foothills of the High Tatras and Beskid is visible.

Balice is located partly in the conservation area of Tenczyński Landscape Park, a vast forest area. Worth seeing is the projected nature Jurassic cliffs on the river Rudawa and the neoclassical mansion are on the outskirts.
