Bálint Karosi

Balint Karosi (prop, Bálint Karosi, born 1979 in Budapest) is a Hungarian organist and clarinetist.

Study

He learned to play at the age of six piano and clarinet. At 17 he began to play the organ. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music with Gábor Lehotka as a teacher between 1997 and 1999, then at the Conservatory in Geneva in course " classe de virtuosité " under Lionel Rogg between 1999 and 2001 ., There he won the "Prix de virtousité avec distinction" both for organ and clarinet.

Prizes and awards

While he was studying in Switzerland, he received a full scholarship from the Swiss Federation. He won numerous international competitions as an organ player and a clarinetist. In 2001 he won the Grand prix d' improvisation " Rochette " of the Conservatory of Geneva, and second prize in the Carl -Maria -von- Weber Music Competition in Essen. The third prize he won in Korschenbroich to an organ competition. He also won a third prize in the public competition " Speyer Cathedral " in 2000 and a special prize at the National Meeting Young Organists.

On 19 July 2008, he won the 16th International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition in Leipzig for Organ.

Appearances

Bálint Karosi performed internationally in countries such as Hungary, Switzerland, Ireland, Poland, Germany, France and the United States. He also plays for radio and television, he also has published numerous CDs. He is since 2007 (as of 10/2012 ) senior church musician at the First Lutheran Church in Boston, MA. It occurs both in this church on a regular basis, as well as throughout New England.
