Balloy

Balloy is a commune of 325 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Seine- et- Marne in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Provins Canton and Bray- sur -Seine. The inhabitants call themselves Balloyeux.

History

The area of Balloy has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, excavations attest to this. 1958 Gallo- Roman burial site was discovered.

Balloy is first handed in documents in the 12th century. The first known lord 1203 Gilles de Balloy, whose family until the 15th century held the rule.
