Ballylumford Dolmen

The dolmen of Ballylumford (also called " Druids Altar ") consists of three supporting stones and a capstone. A found within the chamber stone can be of the closing stone. From the former hill, no traces have received the finds are not known.

The Dolmen is a portal tomb or a seamless passage tomb of which there are two more in the region are. It is located near the Mill Bay in the front yard of a house on the Ballylumford Road, the B90, in the townland Ballylumford (Irish Baile an Longfoirt ) on the Iceland Magee Peninsula ( Oileán Mhic Aodha ) in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. J. Fergusson coined for this subspecies of the portal tomb the term " tripod dolmen " ( Stativdolmen ). It is applied to dolmens, in which the capstone on three supporting stones resting ( Ballykeel, Legananny, Proleek ). These are not rare in the region.
