Baltasar Kormákur

Baltasar Kormákur ( born February 27, 1966 in Reykjavík ) is a Spanish- Icelandic actor, film director and producer. His father is the very well-known in Iceland Spanish painter Baltasar Samper.

Career

In Germany he was known as a performer of Baddi in Djöflaeyjan and played at Angels of the Universe also directed by Fridrik Þór Friðriksson with. He is the director of the films 101 Reykjavík (2000), The Sea (2002 ), A Little Trip to Heaven (2005) and filmed Myrin (2006) by Arnaldur Indriðason.

For 101 Reykjavík 2000 he was nominated for the Fassbinder Prize. 2008 was his feature film Brúðguminn selected as the official Icelandic contribution for the nomination for the best foreign language film at the Academy Awards 2009.

In 2008, he starred in the thriller Reykjavik -Rotterdam starring. An American remake starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Kormákur launched in January 2012. Following year, he turned once more with Wahlberg in the lead role. It was the Actiomfilmkomödie 2 Guns, which also Denzel Washington is seen in a supporting role. She was on August 7, 2013, the opening film of the 66th International Film Festival of Locarno.
