Baltona

The Baltona Foreign Trade Company Ltd (Polish: Przedsiębiorstwo Handlu Zagranicznego " Baltona " Spółka Akcyjna ) was founded in 1946 in Poland. The company today operates duty free shops at Polish airports and ship supply in the Polish ports.

History

1946 Baltona was founded as a private trading company for naval stores. 1949 the socialist government decided to ship trading in a society together; in the state Baltona Ship Supply ( Baltona Zaopatrzenie of Shipping ). In the following years Baltona went into the duty-free market and took over the care of the diplomatic missions. In 1958, the first shop was opened, which sold at international trade fairs and exhibition goods against foreign currencies. In the early 1970s they sought new markets and started on flights operated by LOT to sell goods. The late seventies, the expansion was started abroad. 1984, the order was introduced by catalog. In the same year the company was transformed into a corporation. In 1985 started to build up a chain of retail stores. 1995-2000, due to the political and economic conditions, a major restructuring instead; followed by re- restructuring in the years 2004-2006.

2006 a total of 17,852 shares with a total value of 2.6778 million zloty in circulation. Of the Alfa Center Sp (Warsaw) holds 48.78 %, Skarb Państwa ( state property ) 26.83 %, PP Porty Lotnicze (Warsaw) 12.75%, Eq Nywig SA (Warsaw) 11.86% and 0.48 % are in free float.

In 2004, the turnover of 2006 was PLN 90,395,000.00 were then 114 154 002 zloty and the income 2,262,637.65 PLN. Of these, 82 % with duty- free shops, 12.5 % with retail stores, 5% in marine equipment and 0.5 % were achieved with the supply of diplomatic missions. For 2009, a turnover of 150 mil. Zloty and a profit of 10 mil. Złoty expected.
