Balzac (Alberta)

Balzac is a village in southern Alberta, Canada. It is located 24 km north of Calgary and 12 km south of Airdrie. The mall Cross Iron Mills is located immediately west of Balzac.

History

The town developed around the station set up in 1910 the Canadian Pacific Railway. This was named by William Cornelius Van Horne, the president of the company, after his favorite author Honoré de Balzac ( 1799-1850 ).
