Banca per l'Africa Orientale

Banca per l' Africa Orientale ( BAO, Italian for: Bank for East Africa) was an early initiative, a modern banking system in the Italian colonies Colonia Eritrea and Italian Somaliland to establish in the Horn of Africa.

Banca Italiana di Sconto promoted in 1917 the establishment of the BAO as a stock company with headquarters in Rome in Massawa and offices in Mogadishu. 1918 began the BAO operations and has been liquidated in 1923. Presumably, according to their own problems and the liquidation of the Banca Italiana di Sconto.
