Bandar Seri Begawan
Bandar Seri Begawan ( Jawi: بندر سري بڬاوان, Malay port of the revered ruler of Bandar Persian and Sanskrit Shri Bhagwan = port = Dear rulers, mostly just called BOD; until 1970 Brunei City) is the capital of Brunei and has about 33,000 inhabitants. It lies on the Brunei River, which flows near the South China Sea.
2007, the city area of 12.87 km ² originally was enlarged to its present 100.36 km ².
Economy
In the town of producers of furniture, textiles, handicrafts and wood have their headquarters Furthermore processed in Bandar Seri Begawan oil and gas.
Traffic
Only Brunei International Airport is the Brunei International Airport.
Attractions
The city's attractions include the Palace of the Sultan of Brunei, Istana Nurul Iman which, considered with more than 1,800 rooms and 200,000 square meters of covered space as the largest palace in the world and the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, which was built in 1958.
Near the mosque there is Kampong Ayer ( water village German ), one on stilts over the water built village with its own schools and smaller mosques for over half of the residents of Bandar Seri Begawans. Another attraction is the Jame'Asr Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, which is the largest in the country.
