Bandiera Brothers

The brothers Bandiera - Attilio (* 1818 in Venice, † 1844 in Rovito in Cosenza) and Emilio (* 1819 in Venice, † 1844 in Rovito in Cosenza) - were Italian freedom fighter.

Attilio and Emilio came from an aristocratic Venetian family. You were first officers in the fleet of Austria, the then Northern Italy and therefore Venice dominated. Later she joined the liberal movement to Giuseppe Mazzini, who advocated a united, free and democratic Italy. The brothers Bandiera founded the secret society Esperia and attempted rebellions against the Bourbons in South Italy to instigate. In one of these actions they were caught in Calabria in captivity. Attilio and Emilio Bandiera were executed with seven other comrades on July 25, 1844 Vallone di Rovito in Cosenza.
