Băneasa, Constanța

Baneasa (formerly Parachioi, Turkish Paraköy ) is a town in the district of Constanta in the Dobrudja ( Dobrogea ) in the district of Constanta in Romania ..

Location

Baneasa located in the hills of Dobrogea, a few kilometers north of the Bulgarian border. The county seat, Constanţa is located about 75 km northeast.

History

The existence of the town is attested since about 1750. At that time he was like the whole Dobrudja to the Ottoman Empire. It was created at the intersection of trade routes and was a regional trade center; the Turkish name Paraköy means " money - village". Baneasa became a municipality in 1850 and already owned a Romanian church, 1869, a Romanian school.

1878 arrived the place to Romania. In 1916, he was the scene of fighting during the First World War. 2004 Baneasa was declared a city.

The main economic activities are agriculture and trade.

Population

1930, of the approximately 4,500 residents on the territory of the present town of about 3,450 Romanians, 800 Turks and 250 Roma. 2002 lived in Baneasa 5,353 people, including 4,374 Romanians, 963 Turks and 14 Roma. Approximately 3,600 lived in the city proper, the others in the three incorporated villages.

Traffic

Baneasa has no rail connection. Through the city along the national road runs 3 from Bucharest to Constanta.
