Banff World Media Festival

The Banff World Media Festival ( 2010: Banff World Television Festival) is an international film and media festival and meeting the television industry. It takes place since 1979 every year in Banff, Canada.

Under the name Banff World Television Awards competitions will be held under the submitted television productions from all over the world in various categories. The winners will receive the Rockie Award, in addition, Grand Prize awards are given. An individual filmmakers the special prices (Special Achievement Award ) Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award, Award of Excellence, Award of Distinction and a Lifetime Achievement Award ( award for lifetime achievement ) will be awarded. Alongside the competitions, seminars are organized on concepts, formats, film financing and sales as well as other topics of the television industry. Every year about 1,700 filmmakers and other professional participants mainly from television from Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia the festival. About 1,000 television programs are presented.

The festival is not open to the general public. It is part of the nonprofit Foundation Banff Television Festival Foundation and is organized by the Foundation Board, together with a private company. Mission of the Foundation is to "develop, excellent performance in the television programming in Canada and around the world to recognize, celebrate and encourage. " The Foundation Board is staffed with executives from the media industry. The venue is the Banff Springs Hotel.
