Bang Kapi District

Bang Kapi ( Thai: บางกะปิ, bā ː ŋ kàpìʔ ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Bang Kapi located in the eastern part of the city in about between the Lat Phrao Road and Ramkhamhaeng Road.

Geography

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Bueng Kum, Saphan Sung, Prawet, Suan Luang, Huai Khwang, Wang Thonglang and Lat Phrao.

History

In the past, the area was a jungle, its history dates back to the reign of King Nangklao (Rama III. ) When the General Chao Phraya Bodindecha ( เจ้าพระยา บดินทรเดชา ) insurgents fought in Champasak and Luang Prabang, and settlers from there brought back here.

Bang Kapi was originally a very large district. In 1989, the area was greatly reduced, as the districts of Lat Phrao and Bueng Kum were separated. On October 14, 1997, it was reduced again when the districts and Saphan Sung Wang Thonglang were established.

The council of the district Bang Kapi has eight members, each member shall be elected for four years. The last election was held on 30 April 2006 the results. :
