Bangkok Art and Culture Centre

The Art and Culture Centre Bangkok ( Thai: หอ ศิลป วัฒนธรรม แห่ง กรุงเทพมหานคร, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre ) is a contemporary art museum in Bangkok. It is located on the corner of Rama I Road and Phayathai Road in Pathumwan area ( Siam Skytrain Station ).

The initiative to build an art and cultural center is from Governor Bhichit Rattakul. Construction was started in 2000, but later stopped due to financial difficulties and allegations of corruption. Originally, the device Bangkok Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art was to be called (Bangkok City Museum of Contemporary Art), but it was occupied before the opening of the present name.

The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre opened on 29 July 2008 with the opening of the exhibition " Always on the road with a hungry heart " (Always roaming with a hungry heart), were shown at the photos of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. 2009 took up into November, a show of more than 300 works of domestic and foreign artists instead of ( traces of smiling Siam: Art Faith Politics Love).
