Banqiao District

Banqiao, also Banciao or Panchiao (Chinese板桥 区, pinyin Bǎnqiáo Qū, PEH oē - jī Pang - KIO ) is a district of the city of New Taipei City in northern Taiwan, Republic of China.

By 2010, approximately 550,000 inhabitants Banqiao was an independent city and the administrative center of the district of Taipei, which came up in the newly founded city of New Taipei City on December 25, 2010. Since then, there is the city administration of New Taipei in Banqiao.

Location and transport

Banqiao is located southwest of Taipei at the edge of the Taipei Basin. In the north of the district, the rivers Dahan and Xindian unite to Danshui. In Banqiao there are five stations on the blue line of the Taipei Metro, which connects the district with Taipei. All trains of the Taiwan High Speed ​​Rail between Taipei and Kaohsiung keep in Banqiao, as the trains of the conventional railway.

Tourism

The 19th century built in Banqiao and restored in the 1980s residence and garden of the merchant family Lin is an outstanding example of Chinese architecture from the period of late Qing Dynasty in Taiwan.
