Banská Štiavnica District

The Okres Banská Štiavnica (historic German district Schemnitz ) is an administrative unit in central Slovakia with 17,046 inhabitants ( 2004) and an area of 292 km ².

Historically, the district is located for the most part in the former county of Hont, a small part in the north to the places Mociar and Podhorie part of the former county bars, another small part in the east to the place Kozelník part of the former county Sohl (see also list of historic counties of Hungary ).
