Bant's Carn

Bant's Carn is a Bronze Age passage tomb on a hill above Halangy Down " Ancient Village " at St. Mary's, the main island of the Isles of Scilly.

Bant's Carn is situated on a low platform round mound of about eight meters in diameter, which is a so-called " Scillonian Entrance Grave". A corridor leads to the inner chamber of about five meters long and 1.5 meters wide. Chamber and gear lie on an axis and are separated only by post. Some chambers are roofed over their entire length and some as Bant's Carn have enough an open-top area of covered by the curb edge to the chamber. The roof consists of four major lie horizontal capstones. The restored Hill is bordered by curbs.

Finds

Excavations of the plant took place in 1900 and 1970. The finds consisted of cremated remains ( in the back of the chamber ), sherds of Neolithic and Bronze Age pottery, as well as two worked flints which were salvaged prior to investment.
