Baoshan District, Shanghai

Baoshan (Chinese宝山区, pinyin Bǎoshān Qū ) is a municipality in the Chinese -administered city of Shanghai. He has 854 340 inhabitants (2003 ) on an area of 415.27 square kilometers. The population density is 2,057 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Baoshan is the northernmost municipality of Shanghai. It is bordered on the north by the mouth of the Yangtze River and is known for its large steel plant. East of the city of Baoshan joins the Huangpu River into the Yangtze.

1988 has been converted from a circle in the present town of Baoshan District.
