Bar magnet

When a bar magnet is referred to generally magnets with cylindrical or cuboid shape, just have a magnetic north and south poles. The magnetic poles are always located along the longest axis of symmetry. The bar magnet has no attraction in the middle.

A U- magnet is only a bent bar magnet principle. Also, a magnetic disk can be viewed as a modification of a ( cylindrical ) bar magnet, wherein the radius is greater than the height of the cylinder. The poles are here also on the top surfaces of the cylinder, that is on the top and underside of the disc.
