Barasat ( Bengali: বারাসাত, Barasat, also বারাসত, Barasat ) is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal. It has about 280,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and is the seat of the administration of the district North 24 Parganas. Since 1869, Barasat is a city.
