Barbara Harrell-Bond

Barbara Harrell - Bond, OBE is a British anthropologist and professor at the American University in Cairo. Focus of her work are refugee studies.

Life

Harrell - Bond founded the Oxford 's Refugee Studies Centre at Oxford University. She worked as an anthropologist in West Africa and is Distinguished Visiting Professor at the American University in Cairo. Previously, she taught at Makerere University in Uganda, and the University of Warwick. She is the founder of several aid projects, such as the Refugee Law Project in Uganda and the AMERA ( Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance ) in Egypt. In 2005 she was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
