Barbières

Barbières is a commune in the south in the department of Drôme in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Barbières lies in the valley of the Isère, at the foot of the Vercors Mountains. The community is located 12 kilometers south of Romans- sur -Isere and 18 km east of Valence (in straight line ).

Population

The residents of the community are called Barbiérois. With 898 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Barbières belongs to the medium-sized communities in the department of Drôme. In 1962, the municipality still 433 inhabitants. Thereafter, the population increased to 610 in 1982. In the 1980s, the population declined. However, since 1990 it rises again.
