Barbucca

Barbucca is a few types of species of very small, schmerlenartiger freshwater fish that is found in the basin of the Mekong River in Southeast Asia and on the Vietnamese island of Phú Quốc.

Features

Due to the morphology of the snout and the swim bladder itself Barbucca differs from all other Schmerlengattungen. The upper lip is fleshy, smooth and without central notch. The lower lip has grown together with the upper lip, fleshy and divided in the middle. Be found on the lower lip a meaty, bartel -like, triangular lobes, with a soft, thin, flattened outgrowth, which is oriented perpendicular to the body. Two other Bartel couples find themselves at the rostrum, one at the maxilla. All barbels are surrounded at their base by a ring of small outgrowths. The manubrium, one at the Bachschmerlen ( Nemacheilidae ), fins and suckers ( Balitoridae ), Gastromyzontidae, Serpenticobitidae and Ellopostomatidae existing connection hose between the two rear portions of the swim bladder is absent.

System

The genus Barbucca was erected in 1989 by the American ichthyologists Tyson R. Roberts with the description of Barbucca diabolica and was initially monotypic. The genus name is derived from the Latin Barbucca from ( " barba, - ae " = beard, " bucca " = mouth) and refers to the umstandene with barbels mouth. In the first description the species was assigned to the Steinbeißern ( Cobitidae ), later of Šlechtová et al. the fins suckers ( Balitoridae ). 2012, Kottelat for the genus to the family Barbuccidae. 2013 has been described with Barbucca elongata another way.

Species
