Bardejov

Bardejov ( German Bart field, Hungarian Bártfa, Polish Bardiów, latin Bartpha ) is a city in eastern Slovakia. The city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Geography

Location

The Regional Saris ( German Saddle Rosh ), this city is located on the right bank of the river Topľa ( Töpl ) in the Low Beskids and the edge of the Ondavská highlands north about 38 km from Prešov ( Presov ) and 77 km from Košice ( Kassa ) away. The Polish border is located 20 km north of the city.

History

The modern city developed from an ancient Slavic settlement ( until the 13th century) German settlers moved in in the. The settlement used the Augsburg ( Magdeburg? ) Law.
