Bargarh (also Baragarh ) is a town in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the administrative seat of the homonymous district and capital of the same name Tehsil. In Bargarh 63 651 inhabitants ( 2001) live.
Culture
Every year, the eleven-day festival Dhanuyatra will be held, in which the city and the surrounding villages represent a mythological story in the form of a giant open-air theater. It tells the story of a rebirth of the god Krishna, who kills the tyrannical King Kansa.
Traffic
Bargarh is located on National Highway NH6 and on NH201 after Bhawanipatna. By train there are connections towards Sambalpur and Luis Inga. Bargarh is connected via a channel with the Hirakud reservoir.
