Baħrija

Baħrija is a small village in Malta, which belongs to the city of Rabat and 3,000 inhabitants. The name means something like moth. The counts of Moscati received the place as a fief of the Grand Masters of the Order of Malta.

In Baħrija there are two churches, one old ( the no longer used), and a newer, built in 1984 and the St.. Martin was ordained of Tours.

The most important festival in Baħrija is therefore also of St. Martin of Tours, which is celebrated every year on November 11. At this festival is given a bag full of mixed nuts and fresh fruits to small children. Another tradition that is unique to Baħrija, is a fair that will be held after the Martin's on the 1st Sunday, and in which many things are and win in different lotteries.
