Barisal Division

The Barisal Division ( Bengali: বরিশাল বিভাগ, Barisal bibhāg, also Barisal ) is one of seven administrative units of Bangladesh, named the districts of superior and after their respective largest city. The area includes 13295.55 km ². Barisal is located in the central south of the country. The Population Division is approximately 8 million inhabitants. The administrative capital is the city of Barisal.

The Barisal Division is bordered to the north by the neighboring administrative unit Dhaka, Chittagong in the east, to the south by the Bay of Bengal and on the west by Khulna.

Created in 1993, the management unit consists of six districts, has 12 municipalities and numerous local Subverwaltungskategorien. The districts are: Barguna, Barisal, Bhola, Jhalakati, Patuakhali and Pirojpur.
