Barjansky Stradivarius

The Barjansky Stradivarius is a custom-built by Italian luthier Antonio Stradivari in Cremona in 1690 cello. It has its name after the Russian instrument virtuoso Alexandre Barjansky who owned it in the first half of the 20th century. Barjansky played it in 1923 at the premiere of the Cello Concerto by Frederick Delius the solo part. Ernest Bloch dedicated his 1916 concert Schelomo arisen.

Since 1983, the instrument is in the custody of Julian Lloyd Webber, who has played on more than 30 award-winning recordings.
