The Stockholm- Barkarby (also Hägerstalunds airfield or Barkarby Flygstation, ICAO: ESKB ) was until 1974 an air force base in the community Järfälla about 18 kilometers north of the Swedish capital Stockholm. He was one of the oldest airports in Sweden. In June 2010, it was closed.

History

The meadow at Barkarby was first mentioned in 1913 as a training ground for Army aviators. The Swedish Air Force used the airfield until 1974, where he was the base of the squadron F8 Barkaby from 1936. In the 50s the Swedish Air Force ( Flyvapnet ) built an underground center Flugzeugkaverne (mountain hangar ) to house some 50 combat aircraft. So ran the Air Force from the cavern their J -34 and J -35 Draken Hunter. In the 70 years, the Air Force left more on their BAS 60 concept with the scattered Behelfspisten. After the dissolution of the squadron, 1974, the airfield was only used for civilian purposes, but the site remained military property.

In addition to military use, any civil aircraft operation already held by PO Flygkompani from 1919. From 1928 Barkarby was one of three airports with regular international connections.

As of 2007, the airfield of the community Järfälla belonged, but was leased to the Berkarby Flygklubb.
