Bârlad

Bârlad ( German: Bariah ) is a city on the eponymous river Bârlad in Romania, located in Vaslui county. The Bârlad drains the plateau of eastern Moldova.

The city had about 70,000 inhabitants in 2007, in 1900 there were 24 484 inhabitants, of whom a quarter were Jews.

In Bârlad the railway from Iaşi shares on which a route passes on the river Siret, the other on the river Prut along, both reunite in the city of Galaţi.

Along confusing narrow and winding streets can be found in Bârlad some modern buildings, including a good hospital, which is managed by the St. Spyridon Foundation of Iaşi. In the vicinity of the city there are also some camp of Roma.
