Barra do Garças is a municipality in the Midwest in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso on the border of Goiás. It is located west of the Brazilian capital Brasília and east of the capital Cuiabá.

The city is located northwest of the mouth of the Rio Garças in the Rio Araguaia, which form due to the flow conditions sandbanks, which is also in the city name to German sandbank of heron reflected. Hydrographic location
