Bart Brentjens

Bart Jan-Baptist Marie Brent Jens ( born October 10, 1968 in Haelen ) is a Dutch professional cyclist, who is above all in the sport of mountain biking, but also in the cross-country cycling active.

Sports career

1994 Brent Jens third in the Mountain Bike World Championships in Vail and a year later world champion in cross country. Then in 1996 he became a pro, winning the gold medal in the mountain bike competition at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Eight years later in Athens he won again the bronze medal. In 2005, he won the second World Cup marathon race at Garda Trentino and won the second mountain bike marathon world championships 2005, the silver medal behind Thomas Frischknecht. In 2006 he won the first Cross Country World Cup race in Curacao. In 2010 he won a stage in the race Cape Epic together with Jelmer Pietersma.

Brent Jens is currently under contract with Dolphin - Trek team. His previous team was the Giant Asia Racing Team.

Honors

Brent Jens was honored with induction into the Hall of Fame of the European Cycling Union Union Européenne de Cyclisme.
