BartÄ…g

Bartąg ( German Bertung ) is a village in the municipality Stawiguda in powiat Olsztyński, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland. The village has about 1,000 inhabitants and is 6.5 km south of the city center Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ) at all ( Łyna ).

History

Near the village there are traces of settlements from the Neolithic Age. There was also gold jewelry from the 6th - 7th Century found. The village was founded in 1335 (first mentioned in 1317 as " ville Bertingen " ) on an old Prussian settlement Bertyngen the Prussians with the name Mekede. Previous names of the village were large Bertung, Bertingshusen and German Bertung. The meaning of the name is uncertain. He can of mnd. " bert ( l ) ing " ( Friar ) or Old Prussian " berti " ( scatter, pour out ) can be derived. Beginning of the 16th century had also Nicolaus Copernicus. In the war between Poland and the Teutonic Order (1519-1521), the village was completely destroyed. From the year 1521, new settlers have settled in Bertung. Already existed in the 16th century, a school and a tavern. In 1681 a part of the village is burned, including the church. 1724, the parish church under the pastor Maciej Mollier ( 1716-1740 ) was built as a brick again. The church tower was completed in 1800. 1934, the church under the pastor Langkau Otto ( 1871-1945 ), who was shot by Soviet soldiers, has been extended by two aisles.

Currently, few public facilities are in operation; a nursery, a grocery store and a doctor's office. The school was moved to the Russias or for older vintages after Stabigotten ( Stawiguda ). The post office is located in Jomendorf. The station is located on the route of Bertung Olsztyn ( Olsztyn ) -Hohenstein ( Olsztynek ).
