Barthélémy Djabla

Barthélémy Djabla (* 1936 in Mahibouo, Ivory Coast, † September 15, 2008 in Abidjan ) was Archbishop of Gagnoa in the Ivory Coast ( République de Côte d' Ivoire).

Life

Barthélémy Djabla studied after attending school in Daloa 1956-1959 at the seminary in Quida in Benin philosophy. After his military service from 1959 to 1960 he studied theology at the major seminary in Anyama and received on 15 March 1964, the priestly ordination in Gagnoa. After pastoral activities as a vicar, priest, and in his training, he was from 1971 to 1978 Rector of the Seminary of Saint -Dominique Savio in Gagnoa. From 1978 to 1990 he was pastor at Divo.

1989 Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of San Pedro -en- Côte d' Ivoire. The episcopal consecration on January 7, 1990 gave him the Archbishop of Abidjan Cardinal Bernard Yago; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Gagnoa Noël Kokora - Tekry and the Bishop of Man and later Cardinal Bernard Agre. 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Gagnoa. Many years he was Vice- President of the Episcopal Conference of the Ivory Coast.

He died in the Polyclinique International Sainte Anne -Marie ( PISAM ) in Abidjan.
