Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge

The Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge is a nature reserve, which is located in the northwest of the U.S. state of Oregon. The reserve is located within agricultural land in the Willamette Valley and is characterized by a mild climate with high precipitation. Placed under protection, it was because it comes with its vast marshes, swamps and meandering watercourses birds provides an ideal wintering grounds. The approximately 11 -square-kilometer reserve was established in 1965 and is now managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Here a number of geese wintering species including the white-fronted goose and Canada goose. In a census in 2001 here 35,988 swans, geese and ducks were found.
