Bassem Amin

Bassem Amin (Arabic باسم أمين; born September 9, 1988 in Tanta ) is an Egyptian grandmaster in chess.

Life

Amine studied medicine at the University of Tanta. FIDE Master in 1999 he was, an International Master in 2004, Grand Master he has been since 2006. Standards for the GM title, he scored from September to December 2005.

Chess successes

Amin was Arab champion U10 and U12. The Arab U14 Championship he won twice, most recently in August 2002 in Abu Dhabi. In January 2004, he was in Tripoli African champions U20. In the U16 World Cup in November 2004 in the Greek Heraklion he finished fourth. In August 2005, he won the first Open in Asyut, in September 2005, he won in Dubai seventeen Arab single championship of adults. In December 2005 he was again the African Cup U20 win, which took place this time in Gaborone. In July 2006 he won the Arab World U20 Championship in Casablanca with a score of 7 out of 7 and three -point lead. In the U18 World Cup in October 2006 in Batumi, he was third. In the All- African Games in Algiers in July 2007 he was awarded two gold medals. One for his team victory with the Egyptian national team and the second for his score of 7.5 out of 8 on the second board ( Elo performance 2641 ). The Arab U-20 Championship, he was again able to win in August 2007 in Dubai, this time by two points and a score of 8.5 out of 9 In the same month he won the 17th Masters Abu Dhabi. In the African Continental Championship in September 2007 in Windhoek, he finished fourth and qualified for the next World Cup. In his first Chess Olympiad 2008 in Dresden he had with 6 out of 10 positive results. In the Arab single championship in December 2008 in Sharjah, he was third. In 2009 he won the African championship in Tripoli, again in 2010, the Asyut Open, which was held for the sixth time. The African championship he won again in 2013 in Tunis.

In Egypt, he plays for the club El Sharkia Dokhan with which he could win Arab League in 2006 and in the season 2006/2007 Egyptian team champion. In the 2007/2008 season he plays in Egypt for El Dakhila. Bassem Amin was the first Egyptian national team, the Egyptian team chess had professional status. In the Icelandic Team Championship 2008, he played for the runners- Hellir Reykjavík. At the Asian Club Cup 2008/ 09 in Al Ain, he took part for the B- team of the Al Ain Chess Club of the United Arab Emirates.

His current and previous highest Elo rating is 2578 (as of September 2010), he is so behind Ahmed Adly on the second place in the African Elo ranking, which he has already given.
