Bastuträsk

Bastuträsk is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and in the historic province of Västerbotten.

Location

Bastuträsk belongs to the municipality Norsjö. The village is located about 40 km as the crow flies west of Skellefteå and about 30 km south-east of the main town of the municipality, Norsjö. Bastuträsk after Norsjö the second largest and one of the two Tätorte the community.

History

The village grew up around a railway station in connection with the construction of Nordlandbahn 1894. Previously there had been in the area no coherent development. It was named after the far north-west lake Bastuträsket.
