Bat for Lashes

Bat for Lashes is the pseudonym of the British songwriter Natasha Khan (born 25 October 1979). In live performances she is Ginger Lee, Abi Fry and Lizzie Carey supported.

Life

Natasha Khan was born in 1979 as the daughter of an English mother and a Pakistani squash coach. Her parents separated when she was 11 years old. She is the cousin of squash legend Jahangir Khan.

During her studies in music and film studies at the University of Brighton, she experimented with sound installations, animations and performance art. After completing her studies, she began writing the first pieces of music.

Their debut single was released in 2006 as The Wizard downloads Drowned in Sound and as a 7 "single on Khan's own music label She Bear Records. After that, she signed a contract with The Echo Label on which on 11 September 2006 her debut album Fur and Gold was released. The album was nominated for Mercury Music Prize as one of the albums of the year 2007. Although Bat for Lashes was considered a favorite, the award went to Klaxons. At the Brit Awards 2008 was nominated Bat for Lashes as British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist. The prices finally went to Mika and Kate Nash.

2007 Bat for Lashes appeared among others at the Glastonbury Festival. This was followed by a tour of the USA and some gigs as the opening act for Radiohead in summer 2008.

The second album Two Suns was released on 6 April 2009, debuted at # 5 on the UK album charts and was again nominated for the Mercury Prize.

Bat for Lashes, together with other musicians a guest appearance on the published in November 2011 Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole.

In October 2012 their third studio album, The Haunted Man appeared.
