Bates numbering

A Paginierstempel or Nummerierstempel (also Numbering ) is a stamp for generating continuous page numbers ( pagination ) or numbers ( order). An internal mechanism counts after each stamping the number of high and pushes the plunger back on the built-in ink pad.

Construction

Paginierstempel are designed mostly metal and more complex than simple number stamp without automatic counting. Some models support other counting methods for multiple repeating a number. Are usual one-, two -, three - and four repeating and switching off of the switching mechanism. Also options for omitting leading zeros as well as the combination with a cliché and a date stamp are common.

Application

Especially in accounting is the Paginierstempel important because companies are obliged under § 238 Commercial Code, to document the business transactions " in their creation and execution ." For these purposes Paginierstempel were often used.

History

The Nummerierstempel was invented by the founded by Edison Phonograph Works for this purpose company Bates Manufacturing Company in New Jersey early 1890s and patented. In the English -speaking world with the numbering stamp is therefore also known as Bates numbering. European market leader for professional Paginierstempel is the company founded in 1913 with headquarters in REINER Furtwangen in the Black Forest, which has been producing since 1919 Paginierstempel.
