Batik Island

Pulau Batik is an island belonging to Malaysia in the open to the Celebes Sea Darvel Bay. The densely forested island is located about 11 kilometers east of kunak. The irregularly shaped island extends in an east-west direction and 3.5 km in north-south direction for about 2 kilometers. [Note 1] From the coast, the island rises on all sides and reaches a height of up to 245 m. The island is separated by a narrow strait from the island of Pulau Timbun Mata in the south.

Rainforest Reserve

The island is recognized since 1 January 1984 as Rainforest Reserve (Virgin Jungle Reserve ). At the eastern tip of the island there is a police station.

Diving tourism

The coastal waters off the southeast side of the island is advertised as diving area for some time. The dive sites are located within sight of the police station.
