Bâton français

Bâton français, French for " French Bar ", is a French Stockkampfart, probably a variant of the English Quarterstaff. The techniques are heavily borrowed from other European martial arts with the long stick, the techniques of the long sword. Comparable Bâton français is with the English Quarterstaff and the Half rack of the German school, but especially with the Portuguese Jogo do pau, the Spanish Juego del Palo and the Italian schiera di bastone.

Baton was systematized in the 19th century and is as La Canne to the disciplines associated with the boxe française ( Savate ).
