Battle of Hubbardton

Ticonderoga - Hubbardton - Fort Ann - Oriskany - Bennington - Saratoga ( Freeman's Farm - Bemis Heights ) - Fort Clinton and Fort Montgomery

The Battle of Hubbardton was held during the Saratoga campaign of the American Revolutionary War, when on the morning of July 7, 1777 at attacking British forces under General Simon Fraser, the rearguard of the retreating from Fort Ticonderoga American forces. Hubbardton was the only battle which was fought in Vermont in the American War of Independence.

The American commander was John Stark, leader of the militia from New Hampshire. The British won what concerns the wounded and prisoners, but the American resistance allowed the bulk of their forces to move to Fort Edward and to participate in later battles of the campaign.
