The Battle of Kljastizy, also known as Battle of Jakubowo, belongs to a series of military conflicts which in 1812 near Kljastizy ( Клястицы ) at the Drissa in the Vitebsk oblast took place. The main combat activities was on the road between Polotsk and Sebezh. In the battle described here, an Imperial Russian corps under the command of General Ludwig Adolf Peter of Sayn -Wittgenstein and an army corps of the Imperial French army under Marshal Nicolas Oudinot over.

The Battle

On July 28, twelve French squadrons of cavalry of eight Russian Hussars and Kosakenschwadronen were attacked by surprise. Were commanded by General Kulnew the Russians.

Effects

Wittgenstein was awarded the Order of St. George of second class. Tsar Alexander I had described him as the "savior of St. Petersburg". Kapitan Krylov, the unit crossed first the burning bridge, was awarded the Order of St. George, Fourth Class awarded.
