Baubles, Bangles and Beads is a song by Robert Wright and George Forrest ( text ) from 1953, based on a composition by Alexander Borodin from 1881.

Baubles, Bangles and Beads is based on the Scherzo from Alexander Borodin's String Quartet No. 2 in D major of 1881, the Broadway- songwriters Robert Wright ( 1914-2005 ) and George Forrest ( 1915-1999 ) in 1953 for their Revue Kismet has been processed. All the other title of the show originally came from Borodin; in this case it is the second theme from the second movement of the String. The Kismet interpretation took over the 3/4-Walzer-Rhythmus of the original; later artists from the field of popular music went on to a four -four time intervals. In jazz, where the title to a jazz standard was, many musicians were attracted by the bewitching melody and its modern harmonic structures. The familiar AA'BA coda structure of the song got its energy from a key change in each section.

A major success was the version of the song that was recorded in 1954 by Peggy Lee; Other versions followed this year, inter alia, by Frank Sinatra, in the following years, sung interpretations and Others by Marlene Dietrich, Julie Andrews, Johnny Mathis, Nina Simone, Mel Tormé, Sarah Vaughan, Dionne Warwick and Cassandra Wilson. The version of the vocal ensemble Kirby Stone Four by 1958 was nominated for a Grammy.
