Bavaria – St. Pauli Brewery

Astra is a brand of beer, marketed under the different beers.

Astra is manufactured by the Holsten- Brauerei AG, which in turn is owned by the Carlsberg brewery AG. Until 2003, it was produced by the Bavaria- St.Pauli brewery. This brewery between the jetties and the Reeperbahn in Hamburg was bought in 1998 by the Holsten Brewery, closed in 2003 and now demolished.

Brand Development

By 1909, the beer was marketed under the name of Bavaria. Then it became a frequently drunk on St. Pauli beer. Shortly before the turn of the millennium was the former owner - Brau & Brunnen AG from Dortmund - close the brewery and sell the trademark.

The city of Hamburg bought Brau & Brunnen from the factory premises in St. Pauli and operated the brewery, limited for one year, in-house. In this period the emergence of the campaign falls "what about it? ". The brand is mainly advertised with billboards.

Prior to its acquisition by the Holsten Brauerei AG was still part of the alderman of the Astra Pilsener brewery. The trademarks walked through the acquisition also on the Holsten Brauerei AG.

The beer is delivered to a large extent in a Steinieflasche.

Promotion

Astra is known for its promotional events. In Hamburg takes place every year in the world Astra Day.
