Bavarian Localbahn Society

The Bavarian Localbahn eV ( BLV ), also Bavarian local track club based in Tegernsee is a club that focuses on the history of railways in Bavaria. Principal objectives were the operation of historic trains and the collection historically valuable railway material from Bavaria. The association operates the local railway museum in Bavarian Eisenstein and an operating plant in Landshut.

History

The local track club emerged from a working group of the German Society for Railway History ( DGEG ), who performed on the private Tegernsee -Bahn 1969-1975 steam train rides.

Because the operating license of the locomotive DAY 7 expired and neither DGEG still Tegernsee -Bahn wanted to take over the costs for the main study, the Bavarian local track club was founded. As for bridging the time without DAY 7, the steam locomotive 378.32 was acquired in Austria. 1978 was also the TAG 7 put back into operation. Since a boiler damage 2008 she is at the depot Landshut, the club collects for the construction of a new boiler. The 378.32 took over the historic steam trains on the Regentalbahn until it was sold in 1996 to the nostalgia cars in Carinthia. On the Tegernseebahn also was in the 1990s, the machine JA Maffei in operation, which is now parked in the club's museum.

The Bavarian Localbahnmuseum was 1981-1994 in 1877 built the roundhouse in Bavarian Eisenstein. 1999 had roundhouse and tracks to be cleared in Tegernsee, because the operation of the Tegernseebahn was taken over by the Bayerische Oberland Bahn. The steam train with TAG 7 moved to Landshut. Since 2005, the club is back in the possession of another operational steam locomotive, the ( 70 083 ), which had previously stood as a monument in Mühldorf.

Organization

The BLV currently has about 250 members. The office is located in Tegernsee. The Localbahnmuseum Bavarian Eisenstein is in private ownership of the club. In addition, the club has a hall in Landshut for the restoration of historic vehicles in which the TAG 7 is expected to linger after the restoration of the boiler.
