Bay of Islands, Newfoundland and Labrador

The Bay of Islands (English for "Bay of Islands " ) is located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland at St. Lawrence Gulf.

At about 15 km wide entrance to the Bay of Islands are several islands, the largest are Guernsey Iceland, Iceland Tweed and The Pillars. In the center of the bay is an open water surface. To the east three fjords cut into the rock of the Long Range Mountains - North Arm, Middle Arm and south of the Humber Arm. The Middle Arm splits again into the northern and the southern arm Penguin Goose arm. At the entrance of the Humber Arm the larger island of Iceland is Woods. At the end of the Humber Arm the city Corner Brook is located. There, the Humber River flows into the bay. On the southwest coast of the Bay of Islands is located on a small peninsula that juts into the Bay, the Blow Me Down Provincial Park. The bay has a width of about 25 km. The bay depth to the end of the Humber Arm is 45 km.
