Bayan (Arabic: "Declaration " ) is a term from the writings of the Bab, which can denote both the Persian as the Arab Bayan. However, the Bab also uses it as an umbrella term for all its literature.

In the Persian fortress of Maku (1847 or 1848) began the Bab the Persian Bayan together comprising about 8,000 verses, and is divided into nine sections, the Vahids (Arabic "Units") are mentioned. Vahid each containing 19 portions except for the last ten sections. At the start of each section an Arabic summary of the Persian text is given. The work lays out the meaning and significance of eschatological concepts such as Heaven, Hell, Death, Resurrection, Second Coming, " the balance ", " hour " and the last judgment and shows how these have been fulfilled by his own show. In this work, the Bab also sets out the laws of his new religion, and thus raises the laws of the Koran with respect to the prayer, fasting, marriage, divorce and inheritance on. He holds the belief in the prophetic mission of Muhammad is maintained, it annulled the ordinances of the Gospel as the Bab, the Prophet of Islam, yet recognized the divine origin of the faith of Jesus Christ. In addition, there are numerous references in the Persian Bayan and appreciations, but " will reveal the meantime, the God " also admonitions regarding. This prophesied God's revealer is the Baha'i Baha'u'llah 's view, the founder of their religion. The Bab writes in the Persian Bayan: " Until the day of resurrection, the day of Him who will reveal the God who Bayan is the infallible Balance of God. " Because Baha'u'llah in 1873 adopted some laws in the Kitab -i -Aqdas, other amended and repealed many, though consider the Bahai writings of the Bab as sacred texts, but his laws as outdated.

The Arabic Bayan the Bab wrote in the last months of his life in the Persian fortress Chihriq. This work covers the same topics as the Persian Bayan and is less bulky and overweight.
