Bayandur

The Bayındır were a significant oghusischer tribe. They settled during the Seljuk conquest of the Middle East mainly on the territory of modern Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq and Iran. A part of the tribe remained on the territory of modern Turkmenistan. Other spellings are Bayandur ( Azerbaijani ) and Baýyndyr ( Turkmen ).

Mahmoud al - Kāschgharī she mentioned under the name Bayundur as one of the 24 Oghuz tribes. As a totem animal they had a buzzard. Their tribal name means Old Turkic in the place that is often blessed.

The Bayındır have come to the Seljuks in the 11th century from Central Asia to Anatolia and the Middle East. Some groups of Bayındır also settled in northern Iraq and in South Azerbaijan. From the Bayındır the dynasty of the Aq Qoyunlu emerged. They ruled from 1389 to 1507 Eastern Anatolia, Azerbaijan and large parts of Iraq and Iran.

Today, there are still remnants of the tribe in Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
